      Megan & Wyat

      Tell us your proposal story

Wyat had planned a trip up to the mountains and took a detour on our way out to my favourite spot, the pier at Rochon Sands. I was confused, but he assured me that he just wanted to start the trip out the right way. I was getting swarmed by flying ants so I asked Wyat if he was ready to go. He replied “Not yet.” and then got down on one knee! I was so in shock, that I didn’t even remember his speech! He had to repeat it to me once we were back in the vehicle.

      How we met

We met online back in 2018, but we didn’t end up together right then.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

We both agree it was 'love at first sight'. As soon as we met, we knew! Wyat eventually told me that when he got into his car after our first date he thought to himself “I’m going to marry this girl!” and funny enough, I texted my mom and best friend after that first date and said “I’m going to marry this one!”.

      Favourite part of your relationship?

Everything! We work so well together and are each other's best friends. Whatever’s thrown our way we’re either laughing or crying through it together.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

We’re excited to start a family of our own and to just simply enjoy every day together.

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

He got me to pick out the design of the ring I liked, and Lawlor had just what we were both looking for!

How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?

From Wyat, he is originally from Stettler, so he knows all the great local stores!

      Tell us your proposal story

We were supposed to travel to Costa Rica in March, where Cam had intended to propose. However, as our travel plans fell through due to COVID, Cam was scrambling to come up with an alternative.

Throughout the COVID “lockdown” we would have weekly themed date nights: 80’s rock, disco, Costa Rican beach night, and finally, fishing and a picnic. We went to a local fishing spot where we fished, drank champagne, talked, and ate. The night in itself was beautiful.

As the sun started to set, I started to get cold and asked if we could go home. As we began to pack up he said, “There is one more thing we need to do before we go…” then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

      How we met

Cam and his family moved to Stettler in 2007 and into a house a few doors down from mine. His younger brother and I are the same age, and Cam is the same age as my older brother, so it didn’t take long for our paths to cross.

As a teenager, Cam was a Dad’s nightmare: mischievous, wild, and rebellious. As a teenage girl, I was naturally drawn to him. If I was in trouble, it likely involved Cam to some extent (he tells this story a little different, but we will go with my version).

After Cam graduated, we lost contact.

Five years later, our paths crossed again. This time, I was living in Red Deer with my friend, DJ, while attending college. DJ is best friends with Cam’s younger brother, Cody. During the winter, Cam and Cody were also attending RDC in the carpentry program. Cody had asked DJ if it was possible for the two of them to stay at our place when the roads were bad, rather than make the drive back to Stettler.

The first night that Cam and Cody were staying over, I avoided going home. I knew that if our paths crossed again that something would develop between the two of us, and I didn’t know if I was ready for that. I spent almost two hours at Petland; which, you can only spend so much time at Petland before you buy a pet or get offered a job. So eventually, I had to go home, and here we are six years later.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

      Yes and no.

We were together for a year before we decided to take a break. At this time, we were both so young and so focused on our own goals that it was difficult to envision a future together.

After a year apart, we decided to get back together. After we made this choice, I think we both knew that we would end up together.

      Favourite part of your relationship?

Cam loves our adventures. We are both quite outdoorsy, and when we have free time, we try to spend it outside; either fishing, camping, paddleboarding, hiking, etc.

For me, I love the small moments: arguing over whose turn it is to buy ice cream, endless games of crib, planning new projects for the house, or our silly antics.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

Cam is excited to build a family, and I am equally excited to see him become a Dad.

I am looking forward to the life we build and the things that we will accomplish together, as a couple, and as individuals. It is so exciting to watch your person grow into the best version of themselves and attain their goals.

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

I am a girl with a vision. I have had my eye on this ring for years and saved and resaved it to my Pinterest multiple times. Mike and Cam both knew exactly what I wanted. Cam added a few personal touches to make my dream ring even more exquisite.

How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?

The Lawlor’s are my “second family”. Cam knew that having a ring from Lawlor Jewelry was as important to me as having my dad’s blessing.

      Tell us your proposal story

Davis: I wanted to do it in front of our closest friends and I had two occasions in 2020 to choose from, her 30th birthday in February or a group camping trip planned for Canada Day weekend in July. I got in contact with Mike in early January and it just so happened we were able to come together with the design and weight of the ring. The turn around was so quick that her birthday became the perfect time to propose. I had rented a private room at a local eatery on Whyte Ave, surrounded by our closest friends, much of which was our probable wedding party, and waited until dinner was over to clink my glass and get everyone’s attention. I made a speech about how I was thankful everyone could come out and make Tessa’s 30th such a special day, and wanted to add just one more thing! I got down on one knee, said a few special things to her, and asked her if she would make me the luckiest guy in the world and marry me. The rest is history!

      How we met

Davis: We met through Tinder in December of 2017, and our first time meeting was our first date at a board game cafe on Whyte Ave!

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

Davis: I knew early on in our relationship we would end up together. Two months in and we both told each other we loved the other! We gelled in so many ways, made each other laugh, and had an instant chemistry and spark that spread into a wildfire.

Tessa: I definitely knew there was something special about Davis from our first date onward, as unbelievable as that may sound. The chemistry and instantaneous connection between us was unlike anything I’d ever experienced! I’m a bit more of a pessimist than Davis however, so I can’t say I knew we’d end up together for sure, but I surely hoped so!

      Favorite part of your relationship?

Davis: Going to concerts and events, taking long bike rides together ending in brunch, exploring new spots in our city together, getting drinks on patios on hot summer days, skating in the winter, trips together and with friends, and spontaneous laughing fits about the stupidest little things. But if I HAD to choose one, my favorite part is after I have cooked us a delicious meal for dinner, and we are cuddling together on the couch, we turn on 90 Day Fiancé or Married at First Sight and talk the upmost trash about the couples featured. Haha, she turned me on to trash TV and I have never looked back!

Tessa: My favorite part of our relationship would be how we share such similar senses of humor! The ability to sass one another without either of us taking the other too seriously. Plus our shared interest in garbage television (I may have played a major part in Davis’ introduction to said media) definitely is a major bonus!

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

Davis: The next steps! Buying a home and raising a family together is definitely what I look forward to the most!

Tessa: I look forward to more travelling together, buying a home, and most of all, beginning our family!

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

Davis: I listened to the times she said she disliked certain shapes and styles, and made notes in my phone. Mostly I took inspiration from her grandmothers ring she wears daily to go into the details and style of the band and diamond! That, and Mike definitely pushed me in some right directions on bands I didn’t know about, and weights of diamonds that would nicely feature set in it!

How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?

Davis: I grew up in Red Deer, and my best friend Mitch Orobko had a long time friend which whom he was living with, and that man was Mike Lawlor! Not only that, but all 3 of us worked together at EB Games in RD and quickly grew thick as thieves and great friends! And it's not just because of my close relationship with Mike and Alexis, it’s also their wealth of knowledge in the field, ability to educate, and their creative minds to know what would look good. Plus their turn around time in my case was phenomenal!

      Tell us your proposal story

Every summer, for as long as I can remember, my family has taken our horses and multiple friends to a place called The Little Elbow in Kananaskis. We LOVE camping in the mountains. We trail ride and hike every day. Our favorite mountain to climb is Forgetmenot Mountain. It's been 'our mountain' as it holds so many memories for me and my family (even dating back to my parent's early 20's and their accidental overnight adventure). So, two years ago, my dad and I took Riley on his first climb up Forgetmenot Mountain. It takes a good 2.5-3 hours to reach the top and about 1.5 to come back down to the bottom. Riley was a trooper and seen just how much it meant to me and my father. I think it was then that he knew where to propose. So fast forward a year, same mountain, same people, same hike...different weather. That morning Dad and Ri were awfully secretive, obviously, dad was in on it. I remember having a brief thought of, "wouldn't that be funny if Riley proposed," I laughed in disbelief and went on with my life. This hike was unlike all others in the past. We had crazy weather, we had to hide under trees waiting out two flash rainstorms. It was a true test of how committed Riley was to his proposal idea. When we finally reached the top the sky had cleared and we went to take our annual 'made it to the top' picture. Unbeknown to me, my dad was filming. Riley got on one knee and proposed...AND I BLACKED OUT! So thank God that Dad was filming because all I remember seeing was Ri on his knee with a ring saying, "Callie Ann Turigan...." then nothing, I remember nothing! Haha! I even had to ask Riley if I said yes to him or not. I felt awful and excited and emotional all at the same time. And yet, I wouldn't change it. The ring, the crazy hair, no makeup, me blacking out. I wouldn't change anything because it was perfectly us. He's a planner, a grand gesture, a romantic man and I'm a fabulous mess haha. It was the best messy day ever!

      How we met

Riley and I met working for Skaley Landscaping one summer. I had a huge crush on him but neither of us were in a place to pursue anything more than a friendship. One day that sticks out for both of us is when Len left us at ATB with a work truck full of materials to redo the flowerbeds but no shovels, no tools, AND no keys to the work truck. We were stranded with nothing to do and no telling how long Len would be. We became friends that day. It was one of the happiest days of my summer.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

We had no idea! Ending up together was a very happy surprise.

      Favorite part of your relationship?

Us. Our favorite part is simply us. I like adventures and he thinks he's the funniest guy in the room (even if he's the only one laughing) lol. We make a pretty good team. Like all relationships, things can get interesting at times, but we always end things with a laugh, even if it's a reluctant chuckle.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

We are looking forward to starting a family and having a new adventure in a new stage of life. The idea of embarrassing our children and being that cute, goofy, old couple is pretty exciting!

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

He chose the ring. I was no help. If we were in the mall shopping he would try to get me to try on rings or show him what I liked. I would clam up and refuse to enter any jewelry store with him. He did however take an old phone of mine, hack my Pinterest and find the ONE picture of a ring I had. So he went off of that and I couldn't be happier.

How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?

Lawlor Jewelry has always been the number one choice! ♡

      Tell us your proposal story

We went out for an early dinner at Boston Pizza for our anniversary (which also happens to be Valentine’s Day), because the next morning we were flying to Hawaii for a family vacation. As I was finishing packing for our trip, I could hear Blair in our bedroom moving things around, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it. I was putting the final things into the suitcase when I heard Blair come in behind me, and he said “Should we pack this too?”. My first reaction was to be a little annoyed since he hadn’t been helping with the packing. So, I quickly turned around to find him kneeling behind me holding a ring. I was completely shocked and surprised. At first, I didn’t say anything, and just stared at him. Eventually after what felt like a lifetime, Blair said “Will you marry me?”. And I said “Yes!”. For the rest of the night I couldn’t sleep because I was so excited. As a side note Blair wanted to propose in Hawaii but was scared he would lose the ring traveling or it would be discovered by me or security at the airport. And he couldn’t handle the pressure of giving it to my mom for safekeeping.

      How we met

I don’t remember the exact moment we met. We went to high school together at William E. Hay, and eventually ended up hanging out with the same people at parties. We were friends first for a couple of years.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

At first, we were just friends, but I think everyone around us knew we would end up together before we even did. Blair made the first move, and I couldn’t be happier that he did. I think it was a happy surprise, but deep down we always knew we would be together. Seven years together before he proposed to me!

      Favorite part of your relationship?

My favorite part is how easy it is to laugh together, and have fun with each other. We seem to be smiling, and laughing all the time and are always making fun of each other.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

I look forward to experiencing life together as a married couple, all the good and bad times. As a couple we plan to travel the world starting with our honeymoon to Europe (crossing our fingers we can travel soon). We want to have children, and raise those children on a family farm outside of Donalda, Alberta.

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

Blair designed the ring completely by himself! I didn’t have any idea, and I didn’t give him any ideas either on what I wanted. It was November right before he got it designed and my sister-in-law was assigned the task of getting ideas out of me, but she completely failed. At the time I was more interested in completing my Christmas shopping list rather than going into jewelry stores. Blair and Mike did a really great job, I love it!

How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?

Blair and I grew up in Stettler, and knew about Lawlor Jewelry growing up. We have many family and friends that have always had great experiences dealing with the Lawlor crew. Plus, our younger siblings worked at Lawlor’s an amount of time a couple of years ago.
