Tell us your proposal story
Every summer, for as long as I can remember, my family has taken our horses and multiple friends to a place called The Little Elbow in Kananaskis. We LOVE camping in the mountains. We trail ride and hike every day. Our favorite mountain to climb is Forgetmenot Mountain. It's been 'our mountain' as it holds so many memories for me and my family (even dating back to my parent's early 20's and their accidental overnight adventure). So, two years ago, my dad and I took Riley on his first climb up Forgetmenot Mountain. It takes a good 2.5-3 hours to reach the top and about 1.5 to come back down to the bottom. Riley was a trooper and seen just how much it meant to me and my father. I think it was then that he knew where to propose. So fast forward a year, same mountain, same people, same hike...different weather. That morning Dad and Ri were awfully secretive, obviously, dad was in on it. I remember having a brief thought of, "wouldn't that be funny if Riley proposed," I laughed in disbelief and went on with my life. This hike was unlike all others in the past. We had crazy weather, we had to hide under trees waiting out two flash rainstorms. It was a true test of how committed Riley was to his proposal idea. When we finally reached the top the sky had cleared and we went to take our annual 'made it to the top' picture. Unbeknown to me, my dad was filming. Riley got on one knee and proposed...AND I BLACKED OUT! So thank God that Dad was filming because all I remember seeing was Ri on his knee with a ring saying, "Callie Ann Turigan...." then nothing, I remember nothing! Haha! I even had to ask Riley if I said yes to him or not. I felt awful and excited and emotional all at the same time. And yet, I wouldn't change it. The ring, the crazy hair, no makeup, me blacking out. I wouldn't change anything because it was perfectly us. He's a planner, a grand gesture, a romantic man and I'm a fabulous mess haha. It was the best messy day ever! ❤
How we met
Riley and I met working for Skaley Landscaping one summer. I had a huge crush on him but neither of us were in a place to pursue anything more than a friendship. One day that sticks out for both of us is when Len left us at ATB with a work truck full of materials to redo the flowerbeds but no shovels, no tools, AND no keys to the work truck. We were stranded with nothing to do and no telling how long Len would be. We became friends that day. It was one of the happiest days of my summer.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?
We had no idea! Ending up together was a very happy surprise.

Favorite part of your relationship?
Us. Our favorite part is simply us. I like adventures and he thinks he's the funniest guy in the room (even if he's the only one laughing) lol. We make a pretty good team. Like all relationships, things can get interesting at times, but we always end things with a laugh, even if it's a reluctant chuckle.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?
We are looking forward to starting a family and having a new adventure in a new stage of life. The idea of embarrassing our children and being that cute, goofy, old couple is pretty exciting!

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?
He chose the ring. I was no help. If we were in the mall shopping he would try to get me to try on rings or show him what I liked. I would clam up and refuse to enter any jewelry store with him. He did however take an old phone of mine, hack my Pinterest and find the ONE picture of a ring I had. So he went off of that and I couldn't be happier.
