Tell us your proposal story
We went out for an early dinner at Boston Pizza for our anniversary (which also happens to be Valentine’s Day), because the next morning we were flying to Hawaii for a family vacation. As I was finishing packing for our trip, I could hear Blair in our bedroom moving things around, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it. I was putting the final things into the suitcase when I heard Blair come in behind me, and he said “Should we pack this too?”. My first reaction was to be a little annoyed since he hadn’t been helping with the packing. So, I quickly turned around to find him kneeling behind me holding a ring. I was completely shocked and surprised. At first, I didn’t say anything, and just stared at him. Eventually after what felt like a lifetime, Blair said “Will you marry me?”. And I said “Yes!”. For the rest of the night I couldn’t sleep because I was so excited. As a side note Blair wanted to propose in Hawaii but was scared he would lose the ring traveling or it would be discovered by me or security at the airport. And he couldn’t handle the pressure of giving it to my mom for safekeeping.
How we met
I don’t remember the exact moment we met. We went to high school together at William E. Hay, and eventually ended up hanging out with the same people at parties. We were friends first for a couple of years.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?
At first, we were just friends, but I think everyone around us knew we would end up together before we even did. Blair made the first move, and I couldn’t be happier that he did. I think it was a happy surprise, but deep down we always knew we would be together. Seven years together before he proposed to me!

Favorite part of your relationship?
My favorite part is how easy it is to laugh together, and have fun with each other. We seem to be smiling, and laughing all the time and are always making fun of each other.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?
I look forward to experiencing life together as a married couple, all the good and bad times. As a couple we plan to travel the world starting with our honeymoon to Europe (crossing our fingers we can travel soon). We want to have children, and raise those children on a family farm outside of Donalda, Alberta.

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?
Blair designed the ring completely by himself! I didn’t have any idea, and I didn’t give him any ideas either on what I wanted. It was November right before he got it designed and my sister-in-law was assigned the task of getting ideas out of me, but she completely failed. At the time I was more interested in completing my Christmas shopping list rather than going into jewelry stores. Blair and Mike did a really great job, I love it!
How did you hear about Lawlor Jewelry?
Blair and I grew up in Stettler, and knew about Lawlor Jewelry growing up. We have many family and friends that have always had great experiences dealing with the Lawlor crew. Plus, our younger siblings worked at Lawlor’s an amount of time a couple of years ago.
Couple: Haylie Renschler & Blair Mueller.
