The proposal story

We have a small group of friends that have camped together for several years on May long weekend, at a private campsite down by the river. This past May long we had just arrived, all our friends were there, we were all unpacking and setting up camp. Adam’s twin brother came up to me to tell me that Adam was calling me over to the river bank. We have talked about this specific spot often and how it would be so special to get married there.

As soon as I started walking over to him, I knew what was going on.. Adam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We got to spend the weekend together celebrating our engagement with some of our closest friends in one of our favorite places.

How we met

Adam & I went to high school and graduated together in 2014. We had a lot of mutual friends but honestly didn’t spend much time together until years later. After high school we both played slow pitch baseball in Big Valley throughout the summer but on separate teams and we were often rivals, haha.

Did you know you would end up together or was it a happy surprise?

It was definitely a happy surprise! Adam went to university in Edmonton & I took my nursing degree in Red Deer so our lives were in separate places. We would see each other every May long down at the river and at ball tournaments in the summer but it just never transpired into anything until finally one May long about 4.5 years ago, I finally got Adam to ask me out on a date ;) about a month later, I found out I would be placed in Edmonton at the Stollery for my final nursing practicum that fall. Everything fell into place from there.

Favorite part of your relationship?

We both love to have fun and enjoy the simple things in life. One of our favorite date nights is finding a fun place to have a few drinks, eat some yummy food & enjoy each other's company.

What do you look forward to for the rest of your life together?

We recently moved back to Stettler after living in Edmonton for 4 years and we just can’t wait to start our lives and build a family here.

Why did he or you choose the ring you did?

My mom and I went to look at rings around Christmas time, as Lawlor Jewelry was having a sale. I picked out 5 or 6 favorites but wanted him to pick his favourite for me when the time came. He ended up picking my favorite one.
